The Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University in Prague is the most important humanitarian institution in the Czech Republic and one of the oldest faculties, which was founded in 1348. This is the second largest faculty with more than 8,000 students and 700 teachers, including world figures such as translator Martin Hilsky, theologian Tomasz Halik and Egyptologist Miroslav Werner. In different years, teachers of the faculty were such scientists as: Jan Hus, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, Edvard Benes, Jan Patočka, Ernst Mach and Albert Einstein.
The Faculty of Philosophy is the only faculty in Europe where all the languages spoken in the European Union are studied. In addition to the most widely used Germanic, Romance, and Slavic languages, one can study African, Albanian, Bengali, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Mongolian, Vietnamese, and Sanskrit. Graduates of these specialties are involved in diplomatic and oral translations.
The main fields of study include philology (Czech, English, German), history and philosophy. In addition, the faculty offers a wide range of disciplines from traditional philosophy, religion, logic and aesthetics to pedagogy, psychology, sociology, political science, andragogy, theater and cinema, as well as the progressive study of new media.
Thanks to numerous international exchange programs, many students spend part of their studies abroad.

The faculty was founded in 1952 as a result of separating from the Faculty of Natural Sciences. In addition to physical and mathematical areas, the faculty is training IT specialists, currently half of the faculty students are studying in IT specialties. The faculty takes a leading position in the ratings of scientific and pedagogical activities. Graduates of the faculty are employed as managers in industry, commerce, computer technology, the banking sector, in consulting and audit firms, as well as in research and education.

The Faculty of Social Sciences is one of the newest faculties of the university, which trains professionals in the fields of sociology, economics, finance, political science, journalism and public relations. The aim of the faculty is to develop pedagogical and research and analytical activities.
At the moment, more than 4000 students are studying at the faculty.

The Faculty of Law of Charles University is one of the most prestigious faculties in the Czech Republic, each year the faculty receives about several thousand applications for training. The faculty is one of the largest law schools in Europe.
Education at the faculty under the program "Law and Jurisprudence" lasts 5 years, upon graduation the title of master is awarded. In the Czech Republic, legal education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate programs.

The teacher’s specialty in the Czech Republic always consists of two disciplines, that is, they teach two subjects: for example, English and mathematics; chemistry and biology, etc.

The Faculty of Science was founded in 1920, having separated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University. Currently, the faculty conducts extensive research in the field of geological, chemical and biological disciplines.
Today at the Faculty of Natural Sciences are opened 9 accredited undergraduate specialties and 8 master's specialties, at which are studied such subjects as biology, geography, geology, chemistry and environmental sciences.
There are more than 4000 students and about 800 teachers at the faculty. In the framework of active international cooperation the faculty offers students training at foreign universities.

The Faculty of Humanities is the youngest faculty of Charles University. It was founded in 2000 at the Institute of Fundamentals of Education.
